|
Mark is a former president of the Delaware Humane Association, and currently serves on the boards of the Emerald Ridge Service Corporation and Snipers Hockey, Inc. A graduate of Salesianum with a master's degrees in business administration and taxation, he spends his business day managing liquidity for several Delaware entities through his own corporation located at Plaza 273 in Christiana. Before this time, Mark has served in the treasury departments of Columbia Gas and Astra Merck in Wilmington. He and his wife Susan, a benefits manager with Nephrology Associates, along with their two sons Erik and Bret, currently reside in Bear, Delaware. "I've been involved in the environmental movement since I was a child crabbing off the pier in Old New Castle after delivering a newspaper every summer morning," Mark says. "In my formative years, I realized the value of protecting the Delaware coastline, the importance of the tidal marshes to the birding community, and the encroaching growth of urban sprawl into these sensitive areas. Having lived all my life within the footprint of the Delaware City chemical corridor, I also understood first-hand the environmental risks we live under daily and the importance of the environmental advocacy community in challenging and keeping honest the government/corporate relations practices that govern manufacturing processes and their resulting waste byproducts." Mark concludes, "I think I bring a unique perspective to the board given my broad financial experience in the natural gas industry and pharmaceutical industries. Having been involved with financial management practices and budgeting processes for these firms provides me with the insider's perspective of how corporations view environmental matters from a cost-benefit standpoint." Mark enjoys reading classical literature and studying history, while quaffing small quantities of German ales.
